About Me

Hi! I’m Can Chen, a first-year PhD student in Data Science at the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute, University of California San Diego. I’m fortunate to be advised by Prof. Jun-Kun Wang.

My research interest lies in online learning. Recently, I am working on the LLM-generated text detection by online optimization.

News

May 2025: Our paper, “Online Detection of LLM-Generated Texts via Sequential Hypothesis Testing by Betting”, co-authored with Prof. Jun-Kun Wang, has been accepted as a poster at ICML 2025 🎉!～
February 2025: Our paper, “Optimistic Interior Point Methods for Sequential Hypothesis Testing by Betting”, co-authored with Prof. Jun-Kun Wang, is now available on arXiv.
August 2024: Received a Ph.D. offer from the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute at the University of California, San Diego!
July 2024: Received a Graduate Student Researcher (GSR) appointment at the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute to work with Prof. Jun-Kun Wang on a project focused on detecting LLM-generated text.
